El Peñol Back Country Long Run

Guatapé

Long Run·14.53 km·372 m elevation·Mix of asphalt and gravel until the Peñol, then asphalt or old camino (dirt/stone path)

About this route

A beautiful back country long run from Guatapé out toward El Peñol. Do this in the morning before or after visiting the rock — run out to the base of the Piedra, then run back into town. The first part to El Peñol is really beatiful and has almost no traffic. The return leg toward Guatapé has more traffic, but most of the way you can hop onto an old camino that runs parallel to the road, keeping you off the asphalt.

Safety

Later sections share the road with cars on the return into Guatapé; use the parallel old camino where possible.
