Laureles to El Poblado — River Run
Laureles · Medellín
Long Run·6.82 km·67 m elevation·Mixed — neighbourhood streets, highway pavement, city roads
About this route
A run with three distinct chapters — each one feeling like a different city. You start in Laureles, weaving through quiet neighbourhood streets that are genuinely pleasant and worth taking slowly. This section sets a comfortable pace before things open up. After roughly 2km the road leads onto the highway. It's 2.5km along the highway — runnable on the pavement — until you cross the river. The river crossing is your natural halfway marker and the moment the city shifts beneath you. On one side Laureles, on the other El Poblado beginning to take shape. Once across you're into El Poblado. From here you can connect directly onto the El Poblado long run route — following it all the way to the end for a proper long run effort. When you're done take the metro back from El Poblado station to Estadio in Laureles. Five minutes on the metro and you're back where you started — no retracing, no doubling back.
Safety
The highway section is closed for runners and cyclists only during the Sunday ciclovía. The Laureles neighbourhood section and El Poblado are both safe and well populated in the morning.
Local tip
Time it right and you arrive into El Poblado just as the Sunday ciclovía is getting started.
